A circa 1910 building in Downtown Roanoke was in need of a major renovation and a new life. From the moment Building Specialists walked through the space, the team knew that the building was destined to be transformed from a dilapidated storage space into a luxurious, modern loft development. The concept was born: Historic Building, Modern Loft.

Since the building is located in a Historic District, it was important to retain its historic character when viewed from the street. However, it was equally as important the interior of the building contain modern design elements, unique to generally traditional Roanoke. While the shell of the building retains its historic charm, including exposed brick walls, heart of pine floors, tin ceilings, and historic windows, the interior has a definite modern influence. Sliding glass partitions, concrete countertops, gloss black cabinetry as well as other elements combine to give Lofts on Church a decidedly urban, European influence. The transformation at 17 Church Avenue is stunning and once inside you feel as though you have stepped into an upscale, stylish apartment in SoHo, New York.
