Progress Continues

Weather continues to be troublesome on the set of the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition for Carol Crawford-Smith home project. Overnight, weather wore out volunteers until not enough were left to get the drywall completely installed. The nasty weather this morning also brought a slow start to the progress on the interior in the house and come noon, a fresh group of volunteers arrived to help get the project back on track.

Roofing is entirely complete and progress on finishing the siding (a very time-consuming process) is steady, although not finished as of late this evening.

Drywall and finish trim are complete and painting is underway. Cabinets in the kitchen and baths are being installed, and tiling is almost complete. HVAC is installed, plumbing is almost complete and electrical wiring is done, including fixtures and switches. Late tonight, the plan was to finish the siding, the gable and the heavy timber framing for the entry by the morning.

"Despite the delays," said Amanda McCreary, architectural designer for Building Specialists, "the community has rallied around this. We are geared up and will get it done for the Crawford-Smith family to come home in the next 48 hours!"
