On a beautiful day in 1993 someone carelessly tossed a cigarette butt into the mulch against the apartment building. This ignited the mulch, wood siding, and spread quickly to the wood shake roofing. The entire structure, including decks, chimneys, exterior brick and siding, cedar shake roof, and interior spaces suffered extensive fire damage.
Building Specialists was charged with the total stabilization and rebuild of twelve units within the apartment complex. Working with the homeowner's association and the insurance company, BSI was able to start the process of stabilizing and starting demolition to the damaged structure. This project including working with twelve homeowners and twelve insurance companies. The scope of work included new roof trusses, sheathing, shingles, and exterior work that tied seamlessly into the existing structure. The units had to be completely rebuilt, including doors, windows, framing, and drywall and finishes.
