Situation:

Wednesday evening, May 12, 1993, a fire erupted when the Windy Hill Key apartment complex was struck by lightning. According to residents, within minutes flames were leaping 30 to 40 feet into the air. Seven families were displaced from the 20-unit building. Two apartments were consumed by fire while smoke and water damaged all the apartments below.

Solution:

Building Specialists, Inc. (BSI) was charged with the total stabilization and rebuilding of the damaged units. Within 24 hours, BSI was on the property stabilizing and starting demolition to the damaged structure. The scope of work included new roof trusses, sheathing, shingles, and exterior work that tied seamlessly into the existing structure. The units had to be completely rebuilt, including doors, windows, framing, and drywall.
