In late February 2008, Roanoke experienced a very strong wind storm creating damage around the city. Building Specialists, Inc. (BSI) was called to the home of Barbara Branch where a huge oak tree had fallen into her home. The roof sustained the majority of the damage on the backside of the home. A large picture window was knocked out, barely missing the homeowner sitting inside the den.
Within the hour BSI had a team on site working to remove the oak tree and tarp the window area and roof. The initial goal was to stabilize the home from the cold temperatures of winter. The weight and force of the tree caused brick masonry to buckle away from the garage, a concrete slab to shift, and plaster throughout the backside of the home to crack.
