Boone’s Mill Train Depot
Commercial Construction in Boones Mill, VA.
Situation:
A multiple year effort to save the Boones Mill train depot had accomplished moving the station to its new location but left it surrounded by dirt and lacking proper site drainage.
Solution:
A VDOT grant provided matching funding to stabilize the site with final grading and seeding of the bare soil. Building Specialists meticulously worked through the required paperwork during the winter months and quickly installed the subsurface drainage piping with manholes as quickly as weather allowed. Structural wood framing under the depot damaged by termites and over 100 years of weathering were replaced to stabilize the building.
